We classify the variable coefficient Kadomtsev—Petviashvili (VCKP) equation into equivalence classes under the group of local
point transformations, leaving the equation form invariant but changing the coefficient functions. We list the representatives
of all equivalence classes with the corresponding transformations. Then, we obtain the symmetry group of the VCKP equation
and in particular discuss how to use these transformations to classify low-dimensional symmetry algebras in the generic case.

The percolation theory approach to static and dynamic properties of the single- and two-phase fluid flow in porous media is described. Using percolation cluster scaling laws, one can obtain functional relations between the saturation fraction of a given phase and the capillary pressure, the relative permeability, and the dispersion coefficient, in drainage and imbibition processes. In addition, the scale dependency of the transport coefficient is shown to be an outcome of the fractal nature of pore space and of the random flow pattern of the fluids or contaminant. 相似文献

The thermal-hydraulic performance of five oval tubes is experimentally investigated and compared with that for a circular tube in a cross-flow of air. The range of Reynolds numbers ReD is approximately between 1,000 and 11,000. The nominal axis ratios R (major axis/minor axis) for three of the investigated oval tubes are 2, 3, and 4. Two other configurations of oval tubes are also tested, an oval tube R=3 with two wires soldered on its upper and lower top positions, and a cut-oval tube. The performance of the tubes is corrected for the effects of area blockage and turbulence intensity. The measurement results show that the mean Nusselt numbers NuD for the oval tubes are close to that for the circular tube for ReD<4,000. For a higher ReD, the NuD for the oval tubes is lower than that for the circular tube and it decreases with the increase in the axis ratio R. The drag coefficients Cd for the tubes are measured and the combined thermal-hydraulic performance is indicated by the ratio NuD/Cd, which shows a better combined performance for the oval tubes. 相似文献

This paper presents a further study of the Manning and Darcy-Weisbach resistance coefficients, as they play a significant role in assessing the cross-sectional mean velocity, conveyance capacity and determining the lateral distribution of depth mean velocity and local boundary shear stress in compound channels. The relationships between the local, zonal and overall resistance coefficients, and a wide range of geometries and different roughness between the main channel and the flood plain are established by analyzing a vast amount of experimental data from a British Science and Engineering Research Council Flood Channel Facility (SERC-FCF). And the experimental results also show that the overall Darcy-Weisbach resistance coefficient for a compound channel is the function of Reynolds number, but the function relationship is different from that for a single channel. By comparing and analyzing the conventional methods with the experimental data to predict composite roughness in compound channels, it is found that these methods are not suitable for compound channels. The thermal contact resistance is a principal parameter interfering with heat transfer in a fin–tube heat exchanger. However, the thermal contact resistance in the interface between tubes and fins has not been clearly investigated. The objective of the present study is to examine the thermal contact conductance for various fin–tube heat exchangers with tube diameter of 9.52 mm and to find a correlation between the thermal contact conductance and effective factors such as expansion ratio, fin type, fin spacing and hydrophilic coating. In this study, experiments have been conducted only to measure heat transfer rate between hot and cold water. To minimize heat loss to the ambient air by the natural convection fin–tube heat exchangers have been placed in an insulated vacuum chamber. Also, a numerical scheme has been employed to calculate the thermal contact conductance with the experimental data. As a result, a new correlation including the influences of expansion ratio, slit of fin and fin coating has been introduced, and the portion of each thermal resistance has been estimated in the fin–tube heat exchangers with 9.52 mm tube. 相似文献
